It was Elspeth's birthday on Friday.
She had endured a torturous year of waiting. Siblings' birthdays, falling in between Christmas and her own caused fresh trauma, only highlighting the weeks, months even, of waiting for it to be her turn.
Thank goodness it finally came around!
Cards, presents, plenty of fuss, a trip out to a local adventure park with friends, a few decorations and jelly beans...
Mint jelly bean and cake was not my favourite combination. The kids didn't seem to mind though!
