Anyway, this seems more pressing, so... as I was joining said hexagon to the blanket-in-progress I noticed it didn't quite match up. Not sure if it is completely clear from the above photo, but I crocheted 7 corners onto my hexagon!
Now after taking a few minutes to work this out I confront my first dilemma (not really a dilemma in retrospect, just me being lazy) - Do I carry on regardless? or do I unravel back to the mistake and redo? After briefly telling myself off for being lazy, I decide to do the latter and go and make a cup of tea resolving to redo the hexagon in question when I get back.
I come back and look at the blanket-in-progress again. Something is not right and it isn't just the hexagon with 7 corners. This is the dilemma.
I have some yellow yarn that I bought to be included in the blanket, but I haven't included it as it didn't seem to sit right with the rest of the colours. In fact, for the past couple of weeks I've had it in my mind that this blanket is heading in more of a 'blue' direction and, next trip into town, I'd pick up a bit more yarn to fit. Now I'm not so sure. Maybe the yellow does fit and the darker blue/green ('Teal' apparently) is the colour that doesn't. Only one thing to do...
...take off the 7 cornered hexagon in teal and replace with a 6 cornered one in yellow. It feels better, doesn't it? Lighter and brighter, the darker teal is too heavy I think, but is there still something missing, another colour needed maybe, or do I carry on like this?
I will come back to the blanket later - staring at something for too long never helps. I'm going to have a look around Handmade Monday instead for inspiration.
