Finished - Hand Warmers

I finished my hand warmers...Ta Dah!

I am very, very pleased with them and will be wearing them a lot. In fact, I will definitely need another pair. These are cotton, so perfect for autumn but a more snuggly winter pair would be useful too, obviously.

Summer is hanging on here in Norfolk and it has been another warm, hot in the sun even, sunny day. The feeling that it is on the wane is definitely in the air though and it is starting to show in the garden. The plants know that things are going to change and that the "Back to School" weather is just around the corner.

The rain from the other morning lingered until lunchtime on the leaves of the Cotinus in the front garden.

The Japanese Anemones have been out for about a week now and are looking lovely.

I hope they will last long enough for the Virginia Creeper (that has crept into our garden from two houses away!) to catch up. The edges of it's leaves are just beginning to turn a brilliant scarlet.

I think the colours this autumn are going to be amazing.

Not to be outdone, the grape vine, usually a tangled monster that occupies the sunniest side of the garden quietly trying to overtake everything, is starting to show it's true colours (and this is before we've had any grapes!)

At least, if cooler evenings and chilly walks to school are on the horizon, I'm well prepared...

  1. I love your hand warmers. Every year I queue pair after pair on Ravelry and don't get around to making any for myself. This year I must! Lovely colours in the garden too. As much as I love summer, I love autumnal colours too.

  4. Those are wonderful - I think I'm going to have to try a pair. Also loved your garden pictures - Japanese Anenome was my favourite plant in the garden but it hasn't come back this year for some sad reason. Quick note, you have an unrequired "d" in your link for the pattern.
