This week...

This week has felt busy, I've been making a lot (taking over the dining room in fact!) and we've definitely settled back into the school routine post-Christmas, with all the rushing around that this involves, but it's nice to overlook the tiredness and grumpiness (parents and children both!) and round up the week on a positive note.

Our littlest turned four on Sunday! A bittersweet moment perhaps, as with it comes the reminder that she'll be off to school come September, yet such a joy to watch them grow up and become more independent.

(Photo courtesy of my sister - thanks Jo!, I was busy in usual Mum role of lighting candles and delivering cake etc.)

I've also rediscovered my stash of fabric this week, and I'm trying to put it to good use by getting a some bits and bobs made and photographed for some craft fair applications. My sewing machine has been dusted off - I'd completely forgotten how much I love sewing...

...making a cushion cover out of an old Clothkits kit and another out of some fabric that used to hang as a curtain in my Gran's utility room.

Hand stitching - I love the process and care involved, and the resulting neat (ish) rows of stitches are so pleasing.

Finding a "tidy hen" on one of the cushions.

Making a pin cushion out of some pink and yellow vintage sheet fabric - I love these colours together.

The result of all this productivity being a rather messy, but happy, desk full of yarn and fabric.

Last, but certainly not least, a four year old riding her brand new (old) bike... without stabilisers!

I hope you've had lots of positive moments in your week too - I'd love to hear about them...
I'm linking up with Penny's "Happy Friday" post over at Planet Penny, and looking forward to settling down with a cup of tea later and reading through the rest of the happy posts. Not a bad way to end the week I think!

xx

  1. Belated birthday wishes to your little one. I love the way you made the cushions and embellished them with crochet trim! They're little works of art.

  3. Gorgeous looking birthday cake. I can remember the moment when my girls went 'solo' on their bikes! Such a huge achievement for them. Your cushions are lovely and how special to have one made from your gran's curtain. Have a wonderful weekend. x

    1. Thank you. Birthday cakes always end up a funny combination of what I want to make and what has been requested - this one turned out quite well! x
