Thankfully, for once, I'm not referring to the sort that require weaving in. Although there are plenty of those hanging around as always.
I have been accumulating other loose ends that need tending: pattern notes that need typing up, a bag of receipts (help!), an unruly stash of yarn and goodness knows how many unfinished projects. It all feels a little out of focus. The children still have another three whole days of Summer Hols left to enjoy and our little whirlwind of chaos remains until they are over; everything else is a haze of jobs that need to be done, my loose ends included.
This being the case I made the most of an hours peace. Girls at the park with James and yet another gorgeously warm summer's day, I made the most of a quiet spot in the garden next to my favourite lavender. It is the bees' favourite too (although sadly it seems less busy with them as it was last year).
Of course, it is not just a quiet spot in the garden but the only spot in the garden, the majority of which is taken up with the most unattractive plastic beast.
For now however, it serves a purpose and anything that occupies the children is worth it's weight in... well, plastic!
So I had the garden to myself and set about tending a few of those ends. Beginning with a notebook of patterns to be typed up, I turned my small corner of the garden into a makeshift outside office, something I could get used too I think.
How lovely to a have a bit of space to concentrate and focus, my only company a rather dozy bumblebee.
I managed to type up one pattern before my crochet hooks and latest project became too tempting (did I mention I have a severe lack of focus at the moment!).
Soon to be followed by the returning, but not completely unwelcome, whirlwind.
xx
Linking to Handmade Monday this week, do go and take a peek at what everyone has been up to.
Another summer nearly over......... soon they will be off to senior school, then uni where does time fly?
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking it's nearly over, and then we get another scorcher like today!
DeleteHI there :) Reading your bio it seems we have a lot in common :) My little whirlwind is now fourteen and a half and seeing that last picture brought back some happy memories of her at that age :) x
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn, Always nice to meet someone with something in common x
DeleteWish you hadn't mentioned notes and receipts - the pile of paper on my desk is growing rather large!
ReplyDeleteLooks a lovely summer day :)
Thankfully I don't have a desk so I can leave smaller piles around the house and pretend it's not that bad!
DeleteI love the idea of an outside office - we really have had great weather this summer.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the weather we're having. Back to school today and not a coat or jumper in sight!
DeleteWhat a lovely idea - I like sewing in the garden but not taken the admin outside ...yet! I just read your bio and though the same as Lyn above - crafters must have similar brains! I have 3 adult children and remember all too well how there was never enough time for anything really!
ReplyDeleteI love being outdoors too, hopefully one day we'll have more outside space.
DeleteAn outside office is such a great idea. I have just spent a few days in Norwich - what a lovely town and so many gorgeous places to visit. Hope you have a good week.
ReplyDeleteJill, Christmas Pie Crafts
I love Norwich too - so easy to miss the treasures on your doorstep.
